Topshop and makeup haul | stylenua

On my recent days off I went on a bit of a shopping spree and because I adore the items I bought so much, I decided to write about them today. I’m a firm believer in treating oneself, and in retail therapy so I de-stressed from a busy week at work with these new purchases, and I am very happy with them so I hope you enjoy reading about them!

The first things I bought were some new makeup brushes. I love new brushes, they’re so soft and clean, and they just feel nicer, so I indulge in new ones every so often. This time, I got a Real Techniques Bold Metals collection blush brush (on sale), a Real Techniques setting brush (unfortunately not on sale), and an Inglot eyeshadow blending brush. I also bought some makeup products, including a trio shadow palette from Inglot and a contour and highlight palette from Collection at Boots. The eyeshadows from Inglot are great because you can pretty much build your own palette with the shades you want, and there are no shades wasted, as can be the case with pre-set palettes.

Then I went to Topshop where I had wanted to find a nice skirt. I didn’t find any skirts I liked, but I did find a beautiful pair of high-waisted trousers with delicate vertical stripes and a ruffled waistline. To go with this new pair of trousers, I found a black Bardot neckline bodysuit which I also fell in love with. Then I came across a pair of blush pink runners with gold accents and bought those too!

There was a sale on in Dunnes Stores as I passed by it as well, so I had a quick look and I found this beautiful pale blue bralette that is so comfy and dainty. Comfortable yet beautiful lingerie is a must for me, so I’m glad I found this bralette.

That is it for my recent purchases! I haven't shopped at Topshop a lot before but I really love their current range of loose, high-waisted trousers and I wish I could have all of them but the pair I got were definitely my favourites. What have you bought recently? Let me know in the comments below!

Top five makeup products | stylenua

I am usually very picky about my makeup products, so when I find one I love I tend to stick to it. Saying that, of all the products I do have I have a few constants that I don’t think I could survive without. A lot of these are products I would highly recommend to people so I thought I would share them with you today!

The first product is the Bare Minerals original foundation. This foundation has been my go-to foundation for two years now, and I am still hooked on it. It has the perfect amount of coverage I want so it still looks natural but I have all my spots and darker areas covered. It also evens out my skin-tone so that the darker areas of skin on my face such as my under-eye area are brightened. This foundation also lasts all day which is one of the reasons I use it for long-wear, such as for a full day of work. The first time I bought this foundation I also bought a light tinted cream from the Bare Minerals counter and I used this under the mineral foundation, for even more coverage.

The next product is one I have been using on and off since I was about fifteen and that is the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer. This concealer has been amazing for me to cover my darker spots and healing acne marks, as well as my dire dark circles and patches of redness. It doesn’t get patchy and it blends so well for me, whether I use my beauty blender, a brush or my fingers.

I only recently came across this product, all thanks to the woman who did my eyebrows last. She applied and recommended the NYX tinted brow gel for me, and although I had been using NYX’s brow pomade, I got this to try anyway. I loved it straightaway and I think I have worn it every time I have applied makeup since buying it. I was told to brush my brows backward and then normally to give the most volume and pigment and this has really stood to me as I think it gives the best application.

Moving on to mascara, another favourite is Maybelline’s The Lift Volum’ express mascara. I love this mainly because it has a curled wand and that makes application a lot easier for me, especially because I also curl my lashes. This mascara doesn’t clump and it dries relatively quickly. I don’t use the waterproof one but I have to say this formula is pretty sturdy too despite not being waterproof.

My last top five product is back to NYX again, but this time it’s their soft matte lip cream in the shade Rome. This is my absolute favourite lip colour and this lip cream has the best lasting power I could ask for. It is a matte finish, but the lip cream isn’t drying. I do tend to put it on right after applying lip balm, which I think helps that, and I would recommend that method of applying it to anyone who tries it.

Now for an honourable mention: without this product, none of my makeup would look as nice as it does. I don’t think I could justify applying makeup without first using the Bare Minerals Prime Time primer. This is the only primer I have ever used that hasn’t irritated my skin or made me break out in a rash. It’s so smooth and it has a lovely velvety finish that holds my foundation all day. I couldn’t ask for anything more.

Have you used any of these products, and what do you think of them? What are your makeup favourites? I hope you enjoyed reading about mine, and I will have another post up very soon!

Much love,

Origins Ginzing eye cream review | stylenua

As many of you may know, I am someone who adores skincare and any products that will not react badly to my skin, and that brings me to my newest skincare purchase which is the Origins Ginzing refreshing eye cream. I had heard about this eye cream from many people but what convinced me to try it was one of my favourite YouTubers, Arden Rose. In her 2017 March Favourites video, Arden said she gave this eye cream “holy grail status” which I was very taken by.

I haven’t been one for eye creams for most of my life but I have recently gotten interested in them and I had been using one I bought in Boots (which I talked about in my recent skincare post), but this one caught my eye. I tested it out on my skin first, because I find I need to do that with any skincare product I introduce to my routine, but it didn’t react badly at all so I was delighted and I ordered it from Debenhams as soon as I could.

It’s recommended to use this cream in the mornings to brighten your eyes but I use it both morning and night which Arden Rose also recommends, and it feels wonderful on my skin. It’s nice and light which I like because heavy eye creams make my eyes feel weird. It also smells amazing and it blends so well that I’m actually annoyed I hadn’t come across it sooner.
I haven’t noticed any drastic improvement in the skin around my eyes yet, but it feels smoother and more nourished in a way. I hope I will see more results with it but I have only been using the cream for a few weeks so far.

The price might be a little steep for some, at €29 for a 15ml tub, but it’s a good investment if you are looking for an eye cream that will brighten your eye area and smell amazing at the same time! I would recommend this to anyone who wants to brighten up their eye area, but don’t forget to drink lots of water and get a good night’s sleep to help that too.
What eye creams, if any, are you using? Let me know if you have used this or any other Origins products in the comments or on twitter.

Much love,
