dream holiday looks | stylenua

Hey everyone,
Today has been one of those days where I have been non-stop daydreaming about going on a holiday to somewhere new, and this got me thinking about the different outfits I would wear to these destinations. I have one outfit for each place on my dream travel list, and I hope you enjoy them!

First stop is Southern Italy. I have had dreams about going to Italy for a long time, and this would be my dream outfit for my dream Italian getaway.

holiday: italy

Next is Oslo, capital city of Norway. Since finding out about the Norwegian show Skam (thank you, internet) I have been fascinated by Norway, and Oslo, in particular. The way the city is shown throughout the four seasons of this show has made me plan multiple trips there in my head, and this is one of many things I would wear there.

This outfit is perfect for a weekend break to London. Like Ireland, England is pretty unpredictable for rain so an umbrella would be essential to pack. There’s also something very cool about a statement t-shirt, that reminds me of British Vogue and models like Cara Delevingne or Alexa Chung. A trip to London also involves a lot of walking and exploring, so flat shoes are a good option.

Being from Ireland and constantly experiencing rainy, cold weather, I am always daydreaming about sun holidays. One place I would love to go for that is Portugal. This look is pretty versatile so it could be worn in a small seaside town all day or thrown on in the evening after a day reading and sunbathing by the pool.

And finally, because I have been inspired by Christie Tyler, aka nycbambi, another dream destination for me is New York City in the summertime. The hazy warm days combined with a bustling city make for a very appealing place to me. And of course, Christie makes it look even more fashionable with her vintage style. (This look is 100% inspired by her.)

holiday: new york

That is it for my dream holiday looks, I hope I have inspired you for any travelling you will be doing, let me know where you are jetting off to this summer!
Much love,

June reading list | stylenua

Hey everyone,
I was recently touching up my blog when I remembered my old blog (that shall remain nameless) so I went and had a little look at my old posts on there. It was funny to see that the type of posts I was writing back then haven’t changed much, I just wrote less and didn’t take as many photos. Which brings me to what I started this post to say: among my old posts I found a ‘Summer reading list’, which surprised me because I have been working on a new post with the similar title, ‘June reading list’. I hope that this updated reading list is more interesting than the original.
The book I am currently reading is one I bought at the train station in Dublin the other day while coming home from Bloom festival in the Phoenix Park. I was originally intrigued by the cover (pictured above) and hoped it would be the type of book it seemed from its image - full of mystery and magical events. Thankfully it has been so far, and it being written by an Irish author, Spellbook of the Lost and Found by Moira Fowley-Doyle is a novel I am recommending to many of my friends.
The next book is In Cold Blood, Truman Capote’s famous crime novel. I downloaded the sample of this book on Kindle a few months ago and then purchased the paperback in Easons. From what I have read so far this book holds a captivating plot and some interesting twists. I am really looking forward to reading this!
While browsing charity shops in my regular routine the other day, I spotted the book Carol, or The Price of Salt which is a book I have been meaning to read since I heard about the film based on it. For a measly one euro I couldn’t pass up this book, and I am very much looking forward to reading it, and then watching the film (because I adore Cate Blanchett.)
The final book I have for my June reading list is actually a graphic novel, but it is one that I have been meaning to read for a while now and I finally borrowed a copy from my boyfriend so I have no excuse not to read it now! The graphic novel is Watchmen and I am so excited to start reading it, based on how much I liked V for Vendetta, by the same author.

That is it for my June reading list, let me know what books you are planning on reading this month and if you are interested in any of the books I have mentioned, leave a comment and I might write a review of it for a future post! Thank you so much for reading.
Much love,

Jessica. xo

styling turtlenecks | stylenua

Hey everyone,
Today I wanted to talk about one of my favourite items of clothing: the turtleneck. This type of top was something I remember wearing as a child, in strange colours with even more strange patterns. Nowadays, though, I like wearing them in solid colours such as black. Although I don’t currently own many, I have always got outfits planned for turtlenecks and I thought I would share some of these with you!
turtleneck (1)

This first look is something I would typically wear (but not with those beautiful red trousers, unfortunately.) I like to wear plain black turtlenecks with a simple necklace, it just adds a little something to the outfit.

turtleneck (2)

The second look is a little different. Turtlenecks look wonderful with skirts, especially this sleeveless type. Putting a black turtleneck with two more solid colours is always a beautiful mixture too.

turtleneck (3)

This look is how I most typically wear my turtlenecks: with a pair of jeans and some flat shoes. Just adding a bit of makeup and some of my favourite perfume completes the casual outfit.

turtleneck (4)

The final look is a more fancy one, something I haven’t personally worn. I have been on the lookout for a turtleneck dress, but I think this one is beautiful, and the dark colour complements the red and gold accessories perfectly.

Those have been the turtleneck looks I have been inspired by lately, I hope you enjoyed, and if you have any different ways of styling them please let me know. If you want to keep up with the looks I am loving, you can follow my style board on pinterest, or you can follow my instagram.

Much love,

May favourites | stylenua

Hey everyone,
It’s now the month of June so today I decided to share what I loved throughout the month of May. I sat down to write this without thinking back through the month but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless!

As some of you may know from my skincare update post and my review of this cleanser, I have been praising the Avène eau thermale gentle milk cleanser. It has honestly been a lifesaver with my skin and I will definitely be using this for years to come. I have also been loving the water spray by Avène. I bought the travel sized one and I keep it in my handbag. It has been especially useful in the lovely warm weather we’ve been having in Ireland.

A few weeks ago, I was dying for a new pair of sandals, so I went into town and bought these wonderful ones in New Look. Ever since, I have been wearing them as much as possible and thinking of new outfits to put them with. What I love wearing them with most is another of my favourites, this white and blue linen skirt, complete with pockets which I love.

I also bought this perfume (probably in April but I still love it) in New Look and it is slowly becoming one of my favourite scents. I have the large bottle and the handbag sized bottle. Its scent is similar to Coco Mademoiselle which is also a gorgeous perfume.

In the world of music, I have been listening to Lana Del Rey’s new singles on repeat because I am so excited for her album! My favourite so far is Coachella, but the new music video for Lust for Life is so visually beautiful that it almost beats it.

And finally, the books I read during May were mostly for exams and coursework but that didn’t mean I didn’t enjoy them. My favourite was Agnes Grey by Anne Brontë, a strange little novel but interesting and pretty overlooked.

I hope you enjoyed my little favourites post, let me know what you enjoyed during the month of May, and keep up to date with my favourite things on my Instagram.

Much love,

Jessica. xo
