As it’s Valentine’s day tomorrow, I thought I’d write a blog post (along with so many other bloggers), but I don’t want to talk too much about the day, as it’s not one of my favourites!
Instead, I’m going to recommend some of the books I have read recently about love and relationships, so I hope you enjoy.
T H I S M O D E R N L O V E by Will Darbyshire
This book is a wonderful collection of realistic love letters written by people from many different parts of the world. It’s a heart-warming and down to earth depiction of romance that is perfect for escaping the consumerism that Valentine’s day can be.
A N N A A N D T H E F R E N C H K I S S by Stephanie Perkins
The first in a trilogy, this book starts Anna Oliphant’s whirlwind romance set in Paris during her last year in high school. It’s full of realistic opinions and obstacles, which makes the story even more compelling. All the characters are lovable and the story is enchanting from start to finish.
L O L A A N D T H E B O Y N E X T D O O R by Stephanie Perkins
This book is the second in the trilogy, and is set in the beautiful San Francisco. Lola is a compelling and unique narrator whose struggles are so relatable that you can’t help but see yourself in her and her mistakes. It also features some of the most beloved characters from Anna and the French Kiss, which makes it even better.
I S L A A N D T H E H A P P I L Y E V E R A F T E R by Stephanie Perkins
In the final book in Stephanie Perkins’ romantic trilogy, the adventures Isla Martin has in her final year at the School of Americans in Paris turn out to be the best thing to happen to her. She falls in love and gains confidence in herself, but still struggles to find her happy ending, which make the story even more interesting.
T H E H A T I N G G A M E by Sally Thorne
This story is a hilarious office romance that sparks from an unlikely place, and between two of the most seemingly incompatible people. Lucy and Joshua’s workplace hatred is something that anyone could relate to and their antics will amuse any reader. Of course, I wouldn’t be recommending this book unless it involved a love story, which it does, but I won’t give too much away. All I’ll say is that it’s sweet and entertaining and worth reading (and it’s quite affordable on kindle at the moment!)
S O M E K I N D O F P E R F E C T by Becca and Krista Ritchie
The Addicted/ Calloway Sisters series’ final book is one of the more romantic books in this amazing series about the Calloway sisters and their love lives. Without giving too much away, I can say that this book is set in the future and features the shy and loyal Lily Calloway, the fiercely intelligent Rose Calloway, and the wild child Daisy Calloway. These sisters have overcome so many struggles over the course of the Addicted series and the spin-off Calloway Sisters series. All three sisters have very different relationships but all are most certainly with their soulmates. The book ends on a beautiful and hopeful note, and we will soon see some of the main characters again in the Like Us series.
And that concludes my romantic book recommendations! These books are perfect to read while listening to a good playlist or rainy mood tracks. I hope you all have a lovely Valentine’s day and make sure you tell the people in your life how much they mean to you.
