Liquid foundation decisions

If you have read any of my previous makeup posts you will know that I tend to use loose powder mineral foundation instead of liquid foundation, but lately I’ve been tempted to try liquid foundation. There’s just something different about the coverage and application that I miss about it.

One of my best friends has recently started using Estée Lauder’s Double Wear foundation and many Estée Lauder counters are giving a free sample if you get your foundation shade matched there. I decided to try this at my local counter and I was matched with the shade Ecru (1N2). Now personally I think this shade works better when I am slightly tanned but it also works with my natural shade of pale – it just looks a tiny bit dark. Which is why I went to another Estée Lauder counter to get matched again, and I got one shade lighter than Ecru, which was Ivory Nude (1N1).

What I really love about this foundation is the texture and the coverage. It seems to just glide onto my skin and it sits so well. Once it’s set with powder it feels like I don’t even have foundation on. As I write this I am wearing Double Wear, and I have been for four and a half hours. I have felt no slippage and upon checking my makeup it looks as if I only applied it ten minutes ago. I’ve been converted to the Double Wear fan club I think, and as soon as my sample is used up I will be purchasing a bottle of it.

I also tried out the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear foundation, because I wanted to have a few options to choose from. With fake tan on, I was matched to the shade 021 Beige Jasmin, which also matches my skin when my tan fades as it’s not too dark. I really loved this foundation too, it was very natural looking and didn’t feel heavy on my face. I wore this foundation every day on my recent trip to Vienna and it lasted all day with very little need for touch-up. It is a little more expensive than Double Wear, but if you are investing in a foundation then it’s definitely worth trying Teint Idole!

Lastly, I got a sample of the Urban Decay All Nighter foundation to match my tan. I’ve heard lots of good things about this foundation but when I was at the Urban Decay counter getting matched, I felt that the shade was a little dark and too orange-toned for my liking. Personally I liked what I experienced of this foundation when it was mixed with a lighter tone as it made the orange tones less obvious but out of the three foundations I chose to sample, this was my least favourite.

So, to any of you thinking of trying a new foundation, I hope this mini review or thoughts post helped you out! If you have any makeup recommendations let me know on my Instagram or in the comments below.

Lots of love,

Jessica.
