Winter skin tips | stylenua

Hey everyone,
I’ve been a little slow on updating recently but my exams and assignments are now all done and dusted and I’m preparing for semester two in university. Today I want to talk about keeping your skin healthy during the winter, since the temperatures where I live have gone down a lot in the last week and there’s even been snow in Ireland!

We all know that the sun can kill our skin, but so can the cold and winter winds. If you have sensitive skin or a skin condition like I do, then you’ll already know that extra moisture is necessary for your skin when temperatures are low, make sure you have a good quality moisturiser with ingredients like aloe vera and shea butter. You should definitely moisturise after showering, but you should also pay attention to any particularly dry areas and moisturise them more often.

Don’t neglect your hands either, they are constantly exposed to the chilly winter temperatures, and as strong as they seem, they still need some love and care. Normal moisturisers are good for taking care of your hands but special hand creams are way more fun and usually come in small tubes that you can fit in a bag or pocket to carry around with you. TK Maxx and Tesco have some great hand creams at affordable prices, and they all smell amazing!

Lip balm is also extremely important, and can save you from a lot of pain (chapped lips are the worst thing in the world.) However, something a lot of people don’t realise is that many lip balms contain petroleum jelly or petrolatum, which block the absorption of moisture to your lips, and is in many popular brands of lip balm: namely Vaseline. When buying lip balm remember to check the ingredients for anything to do with petroleum jelly, as this will be the ingredient to prevent proper moisture for your lips.

I hope you all stay well during this cold spell, and I’ll talk to you soon!
Much love,
JMG, stylenua.
