knitting my own sweater vest

I am by no means an expert in knitting but I do love to experiment with different patterns and projects (such as the many hats I have given as presents to family and friends.) It is one of my goals to have more of my own knitting and other crafts in my wardrobe so this has been a good start to that process.

However, I never thought I’d be wearing a sweater vest. They have never appealed to me before the last few months but the style trends I’ve been seeing with them lately have converted me into a fan. I have been trying to buy less and either shop secondhand or make do with what I have, which included a lot of wool for me. This was my first jumper-type project and I didn’t actually use a pattern, however I would definitely use a pattern in future if I wanted to add some more detail or use different sized wool.

For this jumper I used 400g of woolcraft shetland chunky wool and 6mm needles and used a jumper I already owned for measurements. I also made the arm area a little thinner than necessary so I could add in the trim. I’m currently making my second of these using the same wool and needles and I am filming a video tutorial of sorts to go with that so if you would like to see that please stay tuned!
